The challenge

The EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Resource Council) Future Metrology Hubis a flagship research institute based at the University of Huddersfield’s Centre for Precision Technologies (CPT).

The University commissioned us to create a unique identity for the institute – reflective of who they are and what they do. This identity needed to speak to an audience of academics, funders, students, lecturers and staff.

The hub aims to transform the UK's manufacturing performance, by delivering significant improvements in the speed, accuracy and cost of measurement.

The solution

The brand identity is a visual representation of the institute’s core focus – measurement. It is unique to the hub, yet features key components of the core university brand to ensure it's rooted as part of the university's family of brands.

The project included logo development, identity guidelines and initial print and digital assets, including stationery, leaflets, reports, social media imagery and point of sale materials. The project was completed on time (within a 6-week window) and on budget.

We worked with the client to truly understand their offer and their audience, so we could create a successful brand identity that truly represented them.

At every stage of the process, we presented the creative to the client – either via video call or face-to-face – so we could explain our thinking and answer any questions.

The impact

During the project, we built a strong relationship with the client and continue to be their go-to agency for all corporate and events marketing materials.

Following the initial brand work, we have been commissioned to create various different branded deliverables.

This includes a website, event collateral, annual reports, and templates for leaflets, posters and banners.

The client has since recommended Eleven to PhD students and other university contacts.

£0.35m

worth of new commercial project and consultancy as a result of the branded materials.

£1.6m

leveraged research funding.

70+

positive interactions with UK companies.

+1

Alongside simple, but effective brand guidelines, we provided a set of bespoke icons for use within future print and digital assets, making it easy and cost effective for the client to facilitate a consistent rollout of the brand going forward.

We also created a suite of easy to use branded templates for university events, including banners, leaflets and posters. This initial investment in the templates saved the client both time and money.
