NIHR was looking to update their existing animation explaining who they are, what they do and what their partnership with the NHS entails.
The client approached us with a script ready to use for this project and was looking for refreshed visuals, as well as a new voiceover.
We used a simplified colour palette, focusing on a number of core NIHR colours that created a clear link between NIHR and the NHS. The whole animation was brought to life through the use of 3D visuals and animated camera movement to bring depth and dynamism to the animation.
Varying speeds of animation to set up a scene and then slowly walk through the details, ensured that a vast amount of information and accompanying visuals could be worked into the video, giving pace and interest to the content, without becoming monotonous or repetitive.
A voice over artist with a clear, positive tone was chosen, giving confidence and professionalism to the final animation. The content featured human characters in the story which gave the animation a warm and approachable feel.
As well as providing our client with one updated full-length animation, we also provided them with three shorter snippets which could be used on social media.

As a result of this animation, we’ve since been commissioned to create another NIHR animation in the same style.
Mid way through the project, our client asked if they could introduce ‘people’ into the visuals to help tell the story. We were able to acquire some stock characters and adapt their look and feel to match the animation, at no extra cost to the client.
