Marketing Strategist

We're looking for a proven marketing strategist to understand our clients and their marketing challenges and develop successful marketing strategies to really elevate our work.

About the role

You will develop and present strategic marketing recommendations for a range of clients – primarily in the charity, not for profit and public sectors.

As a generalist, you will have a solid understanding of all areas of the marketing mix and be knowledgeable about the changing media landscape.

This role reports directly to the Managing Director.

Examine clients' businesses, audiences and marketplaces to really get to know their brands and understand their challenges and objectives.

Lead client and colleague workshops, focus groups and audience testing sessions.

Research and gather data and insights to develop well-informed strategic plans for clients.

Propose strategic solutions to clients' marketing challenges - working across our portfolio of existing clients and on new business activity.

Present findings to colleagues and clients.

Identify insights to inform creative briefs.

Distil your strategy and insights into a clear and actionable creative brief.

Work collaboratively with the wider team to generate original ideas.

Develop positioning statements, personas, journeys and messaging frameworks.

Evaluate the effectiveness of your strategies and optimise as appropriate.

Identify opportunities to deepen our relationships with clients.

Develop our own Eleven strategy toolkit to standardise our approach to strategy projects.

Continually learn, develop and share your skills, knowledge and expertise for the benefit of Eleven and our clients.

Comply with company systems and processes.


  • Confident marketer with a passion for the industry and a solid understanding of all areas of the marketing mix
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the full media landscape
  • A strategic thinker who is able to respond to a variety of challenging briefs within commercial constraints
  • Good knowledge of the best marketing strategy resources and tools
  • Comfortable interpreting data to inform strategic thinking
  • Strong personal accountability and drive, managing a busy and varied workload across lots of different projects and clients - ensuring quality is never compromised
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills - with the ability to make complex simple
  • A team player – open to feedback and new ideas
  • PowerPoint proficient
  • Comfortable working within established agency systems and processes


Essential Experience

  • A proven track record in developing marketing strategies that benefit clients/brands.
  • Experience of developing successful marketing strategies for different outcomes, for example, behaviour change, awareness, engagement, recruitment, fundraising, nurture etc.
  • Experience of developing successful marketing strategies for charity, not for profit and public sector clients/brands.
